On Wednesday, the Oslo-based humanitarian group Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) confirmed receiving information that two of its associates were killed and several others wounded in an assault in Ukraine.
The Kherson Regional State Administration indicated that the attack hit the Vysokopillia locality in the Kherson region.
«We are in the process of confirming the details, and our thoughts are with those impacted and their families,» stated the NPA.
“This news is profoundly tragic. Our sympathies go out to the families, friends, and colleagues of those affected,” remarked Raymond Johansen, Secretary General of the NPA. “Our immediate focus is on aiding the injured and supporting our team in Ukraine.”
Since 2023, the NPA has maintained a presence of more than 450 members in Ukraine, where it has been actively conducting mine clearance tasks.
The organisation operates 38 manual demining teams alongside 20 mine-detection dogs with their handlers, primarily covering the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.
Its field offices are located in Shyroke and Mykolaiv in southern Ukraine, as well as in Sumy, situated in the country’s northeast.
