«Ukraine is shifting its political approach,» Zelenskyy stated in a message on X, noting that he had consulted with the incumbent Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko regarding this decision.
«We concluded that these adjustments necessitate a renewal within the Cabinet of Ministers,» he added. «I appreciate Yuliia for her transparent, consistent, and effective leadership as Prime Minister, her long-term contribution on Ukraine’s team, and have offered her a chance to head a new and significant area in relations with a key ally.»
No additional information was provided about the new position Svyrydenko will assume or about her successor.
In her own statement on social media, Svyrydenko expressed pride in her tenure and reiterated her readiness to continue serving the Ukrainian state.
In Ukraine, any cabinet changes require approval from parliament. Despite this, lawmakers have generally supported Zelenskyy since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, and they rarely oppose his initiatives.
Russian attacks on Ukraine persist
This development follows Russian strikes in the Dnipropetrovsk region of southeastern Ukraine, which resulted in at least three fatalities overnight, according to local officials.
Additionally, one person died after a drone strike targeted Kherson, reported Yaroslav Shanko, the head of Kherson City Military Administration.
On Monday, leaders from Ukraine’s allied nations within the «Coalition of the Willing» are scheduled to convene in Paris to discuss steps toward ending the conflict.
