Empleados de estudio de cine porno checo enfrentan juicio por presunto tráfico de mujeres

Investigators claim that recruitment adverts for modelling roles masked the actual intent behind the hiring, with suspicions that hundreds of women were impacted.

Nine individuals associated with a pornography enterprise will face trial in the Czech Republic on accusations of human trafficking, after prosecutors charged them with deceiving young women by offering false modelling jobs and subsequently forcing them to participate in pornographic films.

If found guilty, the accused could face up to 12 years of imprisonment, according to prosecutors in Prague.

«Those charged include the organisers of the Czech Casting project, together with individuals responsible for managing finances, overseeing casting sessions, and handling contracts,» stated Aleš Cimbala, spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office.

He further mentioned that photographers, camera crew members, and actors are also among the defendants.

The accused deny these allegations. According to the Czech news outlet Brno Daily, the defense intends to argue that the women consented to the filming and signed agreements clearly outlining the video content.

Investigations indicate that between 2016 and 2019 the group promoted modelling vacancies aimed at women over 18, although these offers hid the true objective of the recruitment.

«Authorities determined that these job advertisements functioned merely as a cover to produce and distribute pornographic material,» explained the Czech organised crime unit (NCOZ).

Officials reported that the women experienced severe repercussions after participating.

«Numerous victims exhibited psychological and health issues, requiring medical attention, some undergoing extended treatment,» the NCOZ added, noting that hundreds of women are believed to have been affected.

The State Prosecutors’ Bureau’s case focuses specifically on 18 women identified as victims. Prosecutors, according to Cimbala, will assert that the organisers exerted mounting pressure on the women throughout the recruitment process.

«During casting, organisers created a sense of urgency or minimized the significance of the documents signed» to obtain the women’s agreement, he explained.

The indictment document comprises 629 pages.

Prague has historically been a hub for the adult entertainment industry. Following the 1989 Velvet Revolution that ended communist rule in the former Czechoslovakia, deregulation of censorship and the shift towards a market economy drew pornography producers to the region.
