Jordan Bardella, head of France’s far-right National Rally, expressed his intention to «restore the Commission and the EU to serving the nations, rather than the reverse.»

Jordan Bardella, leader of France’s National Rally and leading candidate in the 2027 presidential race, pledged on Friday to win the French election and initiate a redirection of the European Union’s trajectory.

He conveyed this message during his two-day visit to Poland, where he engaged with right-wing and nationalist figures ahead of the upcoming French presidential elections in the following year.

Bardella’s trip coincides with Poland’s preparations for its parliamentary elections scheduled for the coming autumn.

«I am confident that throughout 2027, if both our movements secure electoral triumphs—as France and Poland represent two significant European powers—we will gain the chance to reshape how the European Union functions. As I’ve often stated, it’s about transforming everything without causing destruction,» Bardella remarked.

He further emphasized his desire to «realign the Commission and the EU to serve the nations instead of nations serving the EU.»

Bardella: We share the same vision with our allies here in Poland

In a joint press briefing after meeting with Jarosław Kaczyński, Bardella underscored:

«Over the last 48 hours, I have held multiple discussions in Poland, invited by our European allies, including engagements with Karol Nawrocki’s office and the Law and Justice party leader Jarosław Kaczyński, who welcomed me and my colleagues here,» Bardella stated.

He expressed gratitude toward Kaczyński for arranging a visit to the Polish-Belarusian border, which coincides with the EU’s eastern frontier. «There, I observed a comprehensive range of measures implemented to reduce migration pressures during the previous Law and Justice government,» he noted.

The French politician highlighted the longstanding friendship between France and Poland, explaining that their relations have recently intensified both economically and militarily, including through a mutual assistance agreement.

«We align closely with our Polish friends in vision and values, particularly in confronting migration challenges. Simultaneously, we criticize EU initiatives such as the Green Deal, which adversely affect our industries and agricultural sectors,» Bardella remarked.

He also recalled the joint opposition of the ECR Group (European Conservatives and Reformists) and Patriots for Europe against the MERCOSUR agreement, which they consider harmful to their nations and farmers.

Kaczyński: We are moving toward victory

Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of the Law and Justice party, wished Jordan Bardella success in the upcoming French presidential election and noted its significance for all of Europe.

«This will represent a crucial step in establishing, both in Poland and across Europe, a coalition capable of reforming the EU. We concur that the EU should persist, but its purpose must be to serve nations—their freedom, sovereignty, and growth. Currently—let’s state it frankly—it does not fulfill this role. This situation must change, and there are several indicators that this change is imminent. While optimistic, this vision is becoming attainable. Much depends on how circumstances unfold in our two countries. Hence, the importance of this visit and these discussions,» Kaczyński said.

He emphasized that Bardella’s victory in the French presidential election «would be a pivotal moment for Europe.»

«As president of France, the chairman will not only be a key figure in his own country but also across Europe and European history—positively influencing its course, in contrast to today’s developments.»

Kaczyński reiterated their shared views: «Europe requires reform, and we agree fully; it must be strengthened, and we concur; we need to uphold values—while some differences between our parties exist, they do not obstruct cooperation.»

The Law and Justice leader also drew parallels between their parties’ experiences: «Our journeys have been challenging. We’ve endured intense opposition, often harsh and multifaceted. Such resilience will be essential for the difficult battles ahead, but I am confident that victory will be achieved in the end.»

Visit to the Polish-Belarusian border

On his X platform account, Bardella wrote: «By defending one of Europe’s external borders, Poland is effectively safeguarding European civilization, preserving our values and identity against one of the 21st century’s greatest threats. Should Europe’s major powers fail to recognize the existential danger posed by mass migration, we face extinction,» Jordan Bardella declared on X.

Accompanied by a delegation from the Confederation and the National Movement, including vice-presidents Michał Wawer and Anna Bryłka, Bardella visited the Border Guard station in Kuźnica Białostocka.

According to the National Movement’s social media, discussions centered on daily challenges confronting officers stationed on the eastern border.

Anna Bryłka, vice-president of the National Movement and MEP accompanying Bardella, wrote on X:

«Poland continues to be a target for unlawful migration. The border barrier with Belarus has reduced crossings into Poland, redirecting routes through Lithuania and Latvia. Since early 2026, the Border Guard has transferred over 550 migrants to Lithuania and detained nearly 60 smugglers and facilitators. […] The border must remain secure. No exceptions.»

The day prior, Bardella visited the Frontex headquarters in Warsaw alongside MEP Fabrice Leggeri, the agency’s former head.

«A visit to Frontex headquarters in Warsaw, Poland, together with former agency head MEP Fabrice Leggeri. Confronted with the migration threat, we aim to ensure Frontex receives full support for its mission guarding the EU’s external borders and the authority to repel any illegal entrants,» he stated.

Bardella highlighted the hybrid nature of the migration pressure from Belarus and Russia.

«Since 2021, the Polish border—the entry point to Europe—has endured unacceptable migratory pressure orchestrated by Belarus with Russia’s consent. These destabilization efforts seek to fracture Europe internally. We will never accept blackmail: Frontex must stand by Poland in protecting our continent,» he asserted.

Jordan Bardella’s visit to Poland holds strategic importance. The French far-right leader is seeking partnerships ahead of a possible candidacy in next year’s French presidential election.
