The incident stunned the Mediterranean nation, one of the smallest independent states globally, recognized for its dense population of affluent inhabitants.
The principality’s prosecutor’s office announced Thursday that an individual has been identified as a suspect in the ongoing investigation of a parcel explosion that severely injured a sanctioned Ukraine-born multimillionaire and two other people in Monaco.

The prosecutor’s office added, «A warrant for the arrest of the suspect has been issued, and beginning this evening an Interpol Red Notice will be active.»
This update follows authorities’ statement on Wednesday that a person was taken into custody but released afterwards, as investigations into the blast proceeded «very actively.»
According to a statement from the Mediterranean principality’s prosecutor general, the individual is a foreign national detained in Monaco on Wednesday morning.
They remained in police custody temporarily because «additional verifications were required» before being freed that afternoon, with no further details provided about the individual’s identity or the reasons behind the suspicion.
The explosion occurred late Monday at the entrance of an apartment complex. Officials have not yet disclosed the identities of the injured but mentioned they form a family unit and appeared to have been deliberately targeted.
Reports in the media named Ukrainian construction magnate Vadym Yermolaiev as one of those wounded.
He stated he gave up his Ukrainian citizenship almost ten years ago and was sanctioned by Ukraine in 2023 due to alleged connections with Russia. Additionally, a woman and a child suffered injuries.
The prosecutor’s statement indicated that the child has been interviewed across the border in France, while the other two injured remain unable to provide testimony. One individual is in critical condition, and their life is at risk, according to the statement.
The attack has been labeled an attempted assassination, with French authorities collaborating in the ongoing inquiry. Efforts to analyze the bomb and identify the individual responsible for planting it are still underway.
The motive behind targeting this family and the identity of those responsible remain unknown.
The incident caused shock throughout the Mediterranean nation, which is notable for its small size and dense population of wealthy individuals.
Monaco’s Prince Albert II condemned the act as «an odious crime,» confirming that all public security services have been fully engaged to maintain order.
