The midfielder for Wolfsburg was participating in an international friendly match in Odense, Denmark, when he suddenly collapsed, clutching his chest with both hands.
The game was subsequently halted, but Eriksen remained conscious throughout the incident.
After experiencing a cardiac arrest during a European Championship game, the former Tottenham and Manchester United player had a pacemaker implanted in 2021.
On Instagram, Eriksen assured fans this episode «was different from what happened in 2021» and confirmed that he was «already feeling well.»
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed her «warmest thoughts to Christian Eriksen and everyone close to him affected by this situation.»
Following the event, Morten Boesen, the Denmark team doctor, stated: “From my perspective, the pacemaker functioned as intended.”
Boesen also added that the football federation «is providing thorough care for both players and staff, maintaining ongoing communication with them.”
